Broccoli Slaw

I got this recipe from Paul Dean on the cooking channel so I had to give it a try - if you never have seen her you need too! She is from the South and everything she cooks has a lot of Buuuutttar as she calls it.

2 packages broccoli slaw
2 packages of oriental top roman noodle
1 package of oriental seasoning
1/4 cup slivered almonds
3/4 stick butter
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup Canola oil

Combine oil, cider, brown sugar and 1 packet of oriental seasoning mix in a small bowl then pour over broccoli slaw. Take 3/4 cup butter in a frying pan with crushed top roman noodles and almonds and sauteed until golden brown and top the slaw.

FYI - Per Paula Dean she said it tastes better the second day so I would make it the night before and then add the topping before serving.

Shooting Range

I went to the shooting range and I decided that it was time that I learn to use the guns we have rather then complain about them. So we took the 22 with us and after Micah made fun of me for aiming in small areas on one target rather then the center I decided to show him my method did make sense to me. So this was after two practice rounds. Not bad for someone who just learned, huh?

Susie Homemaker

Micah has decided that is we could, I would stay home everyday! As you can see he gets a home cooked meal every night he is at home. This was just last Sunday's dinner. Costco had a real good price for fresh mushrooms ($4 for something like 2 or 3 pounds) and fresh asparagus ($4 for 4 or 5 pounds.) - we had it like for two meals that week. Yummy stuff!

Banana Bread fresh from the oven . . .

I came home from church today and decided not to let those very ripe banana's go to waste. So once again I pulled out my handy-dandy Betty Crocker cookbook and made some banana bread.

The problem with banana bread is that it is such a yummy treat and makes such a large loaf that Micah and I can not eat a whole loaf of bread - so I made mini-loafs so I could hand out the extra bread to the neighbors.
