Michael Jackson 1958-2009

Everyone has something to say about Michael Jackson; the truth is an event like this is something to make history.

I was looking for the poster I had as a child of Michael Jackson in my bedroom growing up, but was unsuccessful, but I did come across an imagine of the MJ-Barbie doll I had.

Yard Sale - July 18th

So here is the scope! I have decided that I have too much stuff and it has become overwhelming to me . . . . . . so in order not to have to worry about things have to fit into there spot - I will just simplify by getting rid of the stuff that I have too much of!

First off, my scrap booking stuff! OH MY HECK!! I started going through it and it took me two days, I even had a neighbor come over who went through some and was able to find some things she wanted for her kids and I still have three totes of stuff to sell. Those boxes are not even pictures above with the rest of the stuf for my yard sale! ARRGH!

I still have plenty left over that I DO NOT REPEAT DO NOT need anymore stuff for a while anyways!

Here is a quick picture snap showing the progress I have made . . . the right is the pile going into the yard sale and then off to DI what doesn't sell. To the left are the few boxes that I am keeping because I have enough boxes to go through and sort. These boxes are mostly sheets, blankets, Micah's firefighting and mission stuff. ( Yes from his mission; you know things like his SHOES - not only did he bring home the UGLIEST ties, but e also brought home his dirty shoes! Yes, he saved his shoes!)

I am still trying to decide if I am going to sell my cedar chest; Micah had a friend back home redo the whole outside and I do love it, but I have NO WHERE in my house where it fits! I have also had that thing with me for the last 15-20 years!

Last, but no least! If anyone has ever seen my basement or knows me well enough to know - I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas decorations! I had five of these large totes FULL of stuff - snowmen, Christmas tress stuff, Christmas wrapping paper, two boxes of lights for the inside and the outside. I even had three Christmas trees - 1 7.5 feet tall and 2 - 6ft tall. Did I mention it was all brand new! Anyways I took most of Friday going through those five totes and the other countless boxes I had of Christmas stuff and only kept what I use every year and matches my house! The end result three totes; #1 of just lights for the house and tree, #2 decorations I use for the house and the #3 is my box of winter items - anything snowflake related! And ONLY ONE Christmas tree . . . .

This week . . . . . I plan to clean out the upstairs of our house. Anything that has not been used or seen in the last SIX MONTHS is going out!

Hill AFB Museum

This week I had to go one a field trip to a place of my choice for my American Civilization course. Have I ever mentioned that I dislike history!?!? I know the great importance of it, and I there are portions that I do enjoy, however, trying to remember the date of every important events in our history is NOT something that I enjoy trying to learn. Anyways, I choice the Hill AFB Museum since it is close to our home, Micah has begged to go nearly every time we drive by, and it is the only place I could think of when I was put on the spot to give an answer!

The first four photos are the inside of this HUGE plan in the exhibit that lets you see how the pilot was able to get in to fly and then where the second person was able to sit and shoot the machine gun. Cramped quarters FOR SURE - Micah mentioned something to the effect of 'back in those days people never messed with the machine men!' Well duh! They were forced to be over grown men in the fettle position for who knows how many hours.

Check it out sometime - they are open Monday through Sunday from 9am to 4pm.

ARRRGGGHHH - UPDATE on UYV

So this morning I called down to the place that issues Background checks for Utah and California. Just as an FYI Micah and I knew this was going to take a while since California was involved and we mailed our finger prints to UYV on April 21st.

Anyways - here is the scoop. Cherry received our paperwork and submitted to finance a check to mail to California on May 25th and on June 11th she got that check and submitted our information to California. So now we have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for California to respond.

Looks like it is going to mid to late July before we have a youth placed in our home. I am waiting to hear back from our caseworker who will be able to tell us if Sam will be coming to our home. Hopefully, Sam's caseworker will remain patient and wait for our BCI's to come back.

Sam's Bedroom and Bathroom

Micah and I have been working on Sam's bathroom and bedroom. we both decided the butterfly hallway bathroom was not very 'boy friendly' so I pulled out another bathroom set I had from when we lived in California.

We also have been working on his bedroom. Right now the walls are white, the bed is huge, there is a dresser and a desk. Neither Micah or I want to wait to paint the room until Sam is living here to help choice something he likes. I have been picking out paint colors - I need the room to be bearable for myself also.

UPDATE on the progress with Sam: Micah and I were hoping to meet Sam last week, however there was some confusion with the group home. So we have delayed meeting Sam until another time.

To make matters worse - Our backgrounds check from California can take 6-8 weeks! Our caseworker is hoping that she will be able to expedite the process, but anyone who has ever lived in California knows - California is on their own schedule!

Just Venting!

This is by far the WORST post ever, but I just need to get it off my chest! This is yet another aftermath of letting 'family' live with you.

Micah and I awoke this morning to heavy rains; I looked over to Micah and asked if he had a chance to clean out the leaves in our basement door. I had spent the day before blowing all the leaves that way and was meaning to sweep them up! To our surprise when we ran downstairs the drain was covered. So Micah quickly moved the leaves to the side only to find the drain was NOT draining!

Micah and I were both concerned that the water build up would soon come through the door and flood the basement. Micah removed the drain cover - the water sat still! Micah put his hand in the drain (I would of never done that!) And to our surprise he pulled out a handful of cigarette buts from a person who smokes way to much!

That's right! Yet another piece of evidence from my brother that he lived here and did not care how he treated me or my home!
